Applications [MECHANICAL]

1) How lock works with key?

2) How sewing machine works?

3) How parachutes were opened by pulling a rope?

4) How to make a square drill ?

5) How chains were made?

6) Did you know?  Laser itched metal surface resists water

********

7) This happen only with the help of Accelerometer and Gyroscope      (Practical application of Gyroscope)

8) This is how built ships are introduced into water

8) Evolution of race cars     (did you notice that they have found rear engines are efficient for racing)

Automobile

1) VTEC engine mechanism

VTEC (which stands for Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) is an electronic and mechanical system in some Honda engines that allows the engine to effectively have multiple camshafts. As the engine moves into different rpm ranges, the engine's computer can activate alternate lobes on the camshaft and change the cam's timing. In this way, the engine gets the best features of low-speed and high-speed camshafts in the same engine.

In this mechanism, the acceleration of the engine is controlled by extending the time taken for the valve lift. It can be controlled by the synchronizing pin.

2) CVT [Continuous Variable Transmission]

It is the modern way of transmission by the friction rollers. The speed can be controlled without the gear box arrangement. It is mainly used in the ungeared vehicles.

3) Anderson CVT

2) The Trebert Axial Engine animated

3) wobble plate motor wobbling

This type of engine were majorly used in Aviation industry and Marine industry.
Its Advantages are,

Less space
Less vibration
Reduced weight
Multiple fuels can be used

Various Mechanisms 2

1) Scotch Yoke Mechanism

This type of mechanism gives horizontal action as a result of rotational input. This mechanism is nearly similar to the crank and piston arrangement.

2) Crank and slotted lever Mechanism

Speed of horizontal movement is the differnce between this and previous mechanism. The speed of forward movement is faster than the backward movement.

3) Whitworth Quick Return Mechanism

This type of mechanism is quite similar to the crank and slotted lever mechanism.

4) Oldham Coupling

This type of coupling is used to transmit the torque from one shaft to the other shaft which is parallel to each other.

5) Hook's Joint

This Mechanism used to transmit power from different height variation. It is otherwise called as Universal joint.

Various Mechanisms

1) Ratchet and Pawl mechanism

This mechanism is used for non reversible rotation. Example: Bicycle rear sprocket.

 2) Pantograph mechanism

This mechanism is used to trace the path similarly on two places with size multiplication or division.

 3) Ackermann steering gear mechanism

This mechanism majorly used in many of the automobiles for steering movements. To convert the rotational motion of the steering spindle to linear motion of the drag rod, rack and pinion mechanism is used. This mechanism works on principle of four bar chain.

4) Locomotive Steam valve mechanism

Steam locomotives used this mechanism to convert the linear motion into rotational motion. This mechanism also does the work of valve actuation in engine.

5) Gear changing mechanism

Majorly gear box actuation is done by ball joint link. This mechanism is used to change the gears for smooth power transmission.

6) Malta Cross movement

This mechanisms were used for the angular rotation with frequent interval. These were used majorly used in automation.

 7) Oval regulation

In this mechanism, the needle is made to travel in oval path so that it can be used for machining the materials in oval profile.
